This post is very much in line with my own thoughts, but much more eloquently put.

MY LORD BISHOPS,

Greetings in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, your Lord and mine in our common journey of faith: to him be the glory for ever and ever!

I am writing this letter hesitantly because, as a member of a clergy household myself, I am aware of the immense pressure that you live under and of the immense burden of responsibility that you shoulder as the Lords Spiritual in our land: may the Lord give each and every one of you the courage, grace, strength and wisdom you need as you carry out your duties in his service.

First of all, I would like to thank you for all the time and effort that you put into so many different and often conflicting areas of life, especially on matters of injustice here in the UK and elsewhere in the world. Thank you, in particular, to those who…

Thanks for sharing this, Sandra: much appreciated. Would that it had never been necessary, though!

  2. This article was so thought out and so provoking… and over the past few years I have done some thinking on this…. I accept those who are ‘gay’… as I would accept anyone as a friend. I also accept their decision to do a be who they want. However, I still hold on to the traditional view that marriage is really intended for a man and a woman. If I believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God then I must believe that he created Adam and Eve…… man and woman to be what he ordains… and it follows to pro-create. It is not possible for men to do so. And while it could be said there are no guarantees that a man and woman can because of physical issues… I believe that to be separate… as one could say a man cannot work because of illness or a woman cannot take care of her house because of physical limitations. There are limitations in every area of our lives. But I believe it to be separate than two men not being able to create life.

I believe that being in a gay relationship is not God’s plan..but I believe also that there are many other areas of ‘not being in God’s plan or sin if you will…. and being gay is no worse than any other sin…be it greed, coveting, lying, stealing etc.

I do not judge those who decide to live as they choose, because if I believe as a Christian that Jesus died once and for all that my sin is forgiven… if I do something that is indeed wrong…….. and I am forgiven by Grace… then who am I to say that a gay person is not covered by that same ‘Grace’. …It is only up to God to determine the state of a person’s heart and soul… not me.. never me.

I can’t change what I believe but I can leave up to God what is His to determine.
    Diane
