What lies are you listening to?

Chance Scoggins asked several people in his life to anonymously share the message that creeps into their head and privately taunts them.

‘Keep in mind, these are uncommon people.  They’re leaders of their industries, the center of their circles, and some of the smartest and most effective people I know.  They’re doers.  They’re popular. Many of them wise, some of them famous.’

‘like everyone walking the face of the earth, there’s a battle raging in your heart and mind between the person you were meant to be – and a second rate, apathetic, lazy and scared, counterfeit version of yourself’

What lies are you listening to? What’s holding you back?

A timely reminder from this blogger that the happiness of our lives depends on the quality of our thoughts. I think what he says is so important I’ve subscribed to his blog.Thank you for directing our attention to it.

  2. I used to be taunted by all kinds of lies that I told myself …basically what I felt ‘others’ thought of my shortcomings…but as healing starts to finally take place you begin to dismiss them for what they are….Diane

So true. There were certain patients that I seemed to be forever telling to ‘change the tape’ – thoughts like ‘I’m a horrible person’, ‘I’ll never get better’, ‘everyone hates me’ etc etc. They kept telling themselves this stuff, then wondered why they felt terrible. I’d often take them for a mindful walk round the garden, pointing out the flowers, the birds singing – to help them cut through all the negative thoughts.
